Model M aficionados - do key spacings vary?

I am the current owner of 4 Model M boards - two are my daily drivers. I am a proficient touch-typist and have no issues using my 1391401s made in 1990 and 1991. Love them! However, I have an black M13 made in 1996 that I acquired NIB a few years ago. The keys on the M13 "feel" more crowded and I constantly fat-finger keystrokes on the M13. Does anyone else notice this on their model M's? (and NO you cannot have my M13 !

I do not notice this on my M13, but I do notice that I'm much more careful of hitting the little nub which throws me off a little bit.
