Anyone grow up using linear switches?
« on: Sat, 19 September 2020, 08:35:22 »
Just curious if anyone grew up using linear switches since there is a lot of love for them.

To the best of my memory our earliest Tandy keyboard felt like it was either membrane or tactile mechanical and from there on it was all membrane. And every laptop I've owned has obviously used a tactile switch as well.

After years in this hobby I've finally come around to liking linear switches (took using a good one to like them) but I wonder if people that gravitated to them straight away grew up using them or something.

I grew up using Bad rubber dome and now I am using nice Rubber dome

I like linear switches but they're just... linear. Nothing special.

Tactile switch is cool because there's so much difference that you get between switches.

I started on linear C64 and Amiga (Mitsumi KPR). I prefer tactile, but I want damped bottom out and half-way actuation like those old keyboards though.
