Hey all!
Been lurking here long enough that I figured I should finally create an account. MKs are the best and I'm excited to join in on the conversations!
I got into mechanical keyboards around a year ago, but man it's a fun hobby with seemingly endless amounts of stuff to look forward to. I started with a Keychron K2 with Gat Blues and quickly learned that clicky switches are
not for me. Thankfully, I was able to return it and ended up slimming down to a Ducky One 2 Mini with MX Browns instead. They may not be perfect, but those MX Browns opened my eyes to the wide world of wonderfully tactile switches.
Eventually, I picked up a Drop CTRL with Halo Clears which I'm quite fond of. Having the hot-swap capability is fantastic for someone like me who will likely want to try lots of different switches. I ordered the Holy Pandas that Drop offered a few months ago, but surprisingly wasn't a big fan of them. I thought they'd be the holy grail of tactiles for me, but I actually preferred the Halo Clears more.
About a month ago I decided to try my hand at assembly, so I ordered a 3x4 Macro Pad from BoardSource.xyz and thoroughly enjoyed soldering and putting it together. I picked up a handful of NK_ Blueberry switches to use for it and actually liked them so much that I'm currently waiting on a full order of them to try on my CTRL. I think my next step will be building my own board, but I haven't yet decided on the specifics yet, so we'll see.
Anyway, thanks for reading! I'm thrilled to be a member of this awesome community!!!
