XD60 No power troubleshooting
« on: Thu, 31 December 2020, 18:27:16 »
Hey people, I present to you the source of my frustration for a while now. About 4 months ago I finnaly put together my own custom keyboard and for the first 2 motnths things were  going great, untuil every once in a while my keyboard would just power down for a second and then turn back on. I didnt think much of it at first until one day it just never turned back on. I decided to order a custom cable and just sat around twiddling my thumbs because I thought that was the problem since i was using a usb c 2.0 cable. That ended up not being it and the next thing i tried was updating my bios and still no dice. I cant  seem to find much on the topic of keyboards just dying like mine did so im wondering if any of yall can help me through this. Thanks!

I would look at the connector to make sure it is fully seating and not damaged. You said you have tried other cabling to eliminate that being the cause?

Another idea would be to remove the PCB from the case to see if something is shorting underneath. Also you can check for any broken solder joints.

Utilize an multimeter, if you have experience doing so, to see if there is power arriving to the board.

if you can send photos of the board, most likely connector side we would maybe be able to help better, but from your description i would expect that either:
- the connector on the board got damaged
- the driver on Windows failed (if you are on Windows)
- you have a short on the board
- you have too much rgb - so the controller detect an over-current and shuts it down
- your usb hub is dying (if you use one) - had similar symptoms when mine was
- your pc usb controller is failing - rare but i seen it happen
- any other things, those are just the few that i could think of in 2 minutes
