Keyboards in Film
« on: Thu, 30 January 2014, 18:58:04 »
Let's start recording keyboards we come across in film/TV.

Last night I watched 'Ender's Game' and I noticed a few Razer Nostromo Gamepads.  That made me laugh a little. I am pretty sure they were not orbweavers so.... cheapskates.

Congo features a Spaceball.

Not a keyboard, but then again a Nostromo isn't one either.  Both have a pointing device and some keys on them.   :P

As well as several Kinesis. I think there is an old thread about keyboards in film.

Men In Black features Kinesis and Spaceballs on the same desk, several desks next to each other. They are different brands but look like they were designed together...

Spotted what looks like a keyboard with Cherry Legends and a big ass Enter on Workaholics the other day.

It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

I recently spotted a Model M in Wolf of Wall Street. And I think in Men in Black they used some Kinesis boards if I remember correctly.

Look at the Esc key, it's not 1x1.

We have a couple of those floating around my office.  They are the cheapest, flimsiest, worst rubber-dome keyboards I've ever touched.  I cringe every time I see someone using one - especially when there is a much better board sitting unused in the empty cube next to them!

Ours are branded with the "Staples" logo (yes, store-brand generic keyboards).  Someone needed some keyboards Right Now, and these were presumably the cheapest in the store.

Watching the current season of "The Americans" and I see a lot of XTs and some beamsprings.

Check out the boards in "War Games" with Mathew Broderick.  The film is from 1984.

That is funny I watched "Ender's Game" yesterday.

I hate that Gilfoyle ("Silicon Valley") uses a Razer Blackwidow. I would have expected something a bit more unique to suite his character.
Although, it may be Product Placement, after all somebody has to pay the bills.
