Questions about focus 2001 kb

Hey everyone,

I was at a thrift shop today and found a Focus 2001 with White Alps.  I was hoping for some advice on it though.

1)  The esc keycap is missing, is there any cheap replacement anyone knows of?

2)  The keys are pretty dirty, whats the best way to remove and clean them?

3)  One of the flip-out feet is missing, should I assume this isn't able to be sourced anywhere?

4)  How does this compare to Cherry Blues?  I have some Cherry browns but I've always been curious about other types, but don't have a lot of cash to try them out.

Anyway, I only paid a $1.78 for it and $5 for an AT adapter that will be on its way tomorrow, so overall not a big deal (except 2, this sucker really needs a cleaning).  Thanks for the advice in advance! :D

You can get a red escape key for an alps type stem.

The early Focus boards are fun, I'm definitely a fan if the switches are in decent shape.

The good news is that the Esc key is fun to change up, so it's probably the best key to be missing.

For cleaning keys, it depends on what's on them but usually a soak in hot water with Dawn dish soap, then rubbing them down by hand as you pull them out and rinse is enough to get them sparkley clean.

The foot under it, you will only find one attached to another keyboard so you're not in much luck there.  But if you want to elevate the back of the board you can hack something up or put rubber bumpers or something on the corners.

I like that green key's finish, reminds me of 70's paint jobs you never see anymore.

Hey guys,

Thanks for your responses.  After I get my AT adapter in I'll try it out, and if I like it I'll order the replacement esc. :D
