I have a G80-3500, which has a funky pointing pad which doubles as arrow keys.

The connector itself is a DB25 wich splits into a DIN6. The DIN6 is not a problem couse the keyboard woks as it should.

The DB25, which I presume is a RS232 interface as it has the pins connected as a DB25 to DB9 converter I have and has this pinout:

A no brainer here. The actual problem is that I'm not really sure how to put this pointing device into function. On Windows XP, serial devices should be fully suported and I often use RS232 communication devices and RS232 input devices that emulate a regular keyboard (specalty programmable keyboards, bar code readers, etc.), so I know my way around. The pad does not work on XP. Currenty I'm struggling with Linux, but the generic options are no good either.
As for the pad itself, it does function when used in arrow keys mode (the 'Maus' button switches the mode). And the interesting thing is that the more you move it into a chosen direction, the quicker the arrow key repeats itself which then results in a quicker movement.
