« on: Mon, 08 November 2010, 13:24:38 »
Looks like someone got inspired by the new one that went for 1800...

EDIT: It's not buy it now, but I can't change the topic title...

It looks... cleaned, I guess. Top-side, anyway.

The manufacturing label is not near mint. The cord's pretty stretched out. These are minor things, but "NEAR MINT" invites nitpicking.

What is "BIN?" This one doesn't have a Buy It Now option (as I'm looking at it). Is there another meaning?

So far as I know, only one used M15 has broken the $900 barrier, and that was strange.

Anyone remember?

Auction ended, 0 bids. Maybe next time the photo should show how close the mint is :)

Did it become a "buy it now" at some point? Now that it's ended it says "starting bid $900 -or- price $1,600."

ID No 0001171, Mfg 16-NOV-94 -- I wonder how long it'll be before it surfaces again.

The seller set a starting bid of 900 with a 1600 offer to buy (not buy-it-now). No bids, no offers, perhaps surprisingly.

I'm not surprised. Supply seems to have increased lately. Maybe this will be the end of that run. I wonder if this seller and the seller of the NIB M15 had unrealistic expectations based on the last used M15 that went for $1600+, which was double what the few listed in the weeks before it had gone for.

Maybe it's a variation of the Damien Hirst scheme ?

(For those who don't know : Damien Hirst had an arrangement with a couple of galleries
that they would buy his **** directly and then sell it . After flooding the galleries with his CRAP ( we are talking HUNDREDS of "art-works" ) Hirst then "suddenly" decided to offer a couple hundred "works" for sale himself ! Naturally, the galleries, with hundreds of "pieces" already in stock, had no choice but to buy EVERYTHING Hirst offered on his own auctions !)

The seller ignored ebay psychology. People like to start out bidding low no matter how high the ending price goes. They just don't like to start out bidding at full price. If the seller had started out asking a couple hundred dollars, they might have gotten the 900 in the end or more.

Also people like to bid on an item that already has 20 bids on it because they think falsely that 20 other people thought the auction was legit/worthwhile.  Even if the 20 bids are $1, $2, $3.. etc..

So true, people love the illusion of the remote chance to make a great deal..
And once they've placed their first bet (!) they may as well see it to the end  ...
