Zenith numpad with oddball switch
« on: Fri, 10 December 2010, 00:09:43 »
Found this strange Zenith Data Systems numpad at my local SVDP for $1. The date code on the back is 0993. It has an irritatingly short 2' ps2 cord and the keys are definitely alps compatible. It has non clicky, non tactile switch that I can't seem to find any info about. I tried disassembling the switch and couldn't get very far. On the body of each switch is stamped "EYE" or maybe "SYS" (see pic). Although the switch is quiet, the keys give off a nice loud and hollow click on the rebound. Has anyone seen anything like this? What is that switch?

Looks like the word "EYE" stamped here. Maybe "SYS"
IBM Model M (\'91), IBM M2 (BS), IBM M2 (dome), Fujitsu FKB4700 (peerless), Dell AT101W (black alps), Acer 6311 (phony alps), Focus 5001 (white alps w/ calculator!), IBM Selectric (gen 1)

I've never seen this logo but it does look like "ミツミ" (Mitsumi) in Japanese.
