Refurbished IBM Ms
« on: Tue, 07 December 2010, 01:09:49 »
I found a site full of refurbished IBM Ms - Calhoun Technologies.  I ordered a 1391401 M for $39.00; I will let you know if it was worth it.  I also found myself a Tandy 2000 keyboard - if it works out I will dedicate a post to it... we shall see.

Keyboard: Leopold FC200RC/AB; horrible ASUS rubber dome keyboard; (3) vintage AT keyboards: Tandy 2000 with horrible switches (Fujitsu), NMB RT2257TW, Fujitsu FKB 4800 (need drivers...)
Mouse: RAT5 mouse

The following is the response from Calhoun:

I regret to inform you that we are currently out of stock regarding the part you ordered online.  At this time, I will not be able to process this order.  I will let you know if any new inventory comes in that you might be interested in.  Your credit card has not been charged, so there will be no need for a refund.   I am sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused, and encourage you to keep Express IT Options in mind as your IT parts supplier.   Please let me know if there is anything else you are looking for, as I would be glad to help you out!

It seems that their inventory is not updated on their website.  Though it does appear that their customer service is not negligent.  I have not followed up for another keyboard as of yet.  Unfortunately, I have nothing meaningful to add.  As for the Tandy 2000, it is clean and ready to play around with, but I have yet to figure out how to get my OS to understand I have it connected.  I have tried to find protocol translators, but I am ignorant on the process of getting windows to communicate with it.  I am inadequately prepared to make this work, but will continue trying.
