Bottoming out: Rosewill RK-9000 vs. Filco Majestouch
« on: Tue, 04 January 2011, 15:44:35 »
Up until receiving my Filco yesterday, my only experience with Cherry Blue switches was the RK-9000. Comparing the two, I notice I bottom out a lot more on the Rosewill board. It almost feels like there's less travel on the RK-9000. Has anyone else noticed this? They're both using plate-mounted switches, aren't they? Or am I just imagining it?
Cherry MX Blue: Filco Majestouch Tenkeyless. Cherry MX Black: TG3 KBA-BLTD-5RBUVS (Police Cruiser keyboard). Cherry MX Clear: KBC Poker (modded with Ergo Clears) Cherry MX Brown: Goldtouch GTC-077 USB numpad. Buckling Spring: IBM Model M 1391401 (1989-01-03 and 1991-11-21).

maybe the keycaps make a difference? I dont know what kind of keycaps does the rosewill have, maybe you can put some of the filco keycaps on it and see if you can notice something different? im a noob geekhacker just suggesting.

Ah, never mind then. I guess it's just that I'm getting used to typing on Cherry blues. Love these things!

It's a great typing switch. Not so great for gaming, though.

Eh, I don't find it so bad for gaming.

Hmm - good to know about the keys.  After learning the tidbit about the Filco's having slightly taller keys than the norm that was pretty much the only reason I was still kinda thinking about picking one up.  Yet if as you say the Rosewill's are equivalent then, other than aesthetics, what if any would be a reason to pay for the Filco?  Seems like the Rosewill would provide rather identical typing experience?
