Reds vs. Browns

On reds vs. browns:

Reds win, GO CINCINNATI!

In all seriousness, the difference is barely noticeable. Tried them on the Switch Try Numpad. They... kind of feel lighter? Barely? I wouldn't notice if I didn't have browns right next to them. And as for linear vs. the subtle tactility of browns, again it just feels like browns that have been very worn down.

So yeah: want MX reds on the cheap? Get a heavily used MX brown keyboard.

How do the browns and reds compare to the clears? NamelessPFG commented that the clears actually have a tactile point, meaning they behaved how he expected the browns should have. What would you say?

I actually much prefer the reds. I switched from day one from all-browns to all-reds. I can see a big difference.
keyboards: Cherry G80-3494- cherry reds | filco majestytouch - cherry browns | kinesis contour - cherry browns | cherry G80 - 1800 cherry blacks.
mice: filco touchpad | logitech G9x | wowpen joy | kensington orbit trackball | zalman fpsgun | intellimouse v1 | logitech rx1500

Clears feel more like rubber domes than any other switch I've tried. Heavy force, and a frictiony tactile bump. Give it a mushy landing and you've got a mediocre Logitech. I don't hate clears, but I can say I'm not really a fan.

I'm very curious to try reds. Been thinking about a G80-3494.

Convince me. I'm a touch typist and I bottom out all day long.

So, are you talking about using sixty's springs to mod a board with browns? Or reds?

Blehh. Too much work. I'm lazy.

You do it. :P

Edit: Since I obviously have no idea, how much of a PITA is it to replace cherry springs on a plate-mounted board?
