Can I just point out that it's really annoying for people to make a post and then later obliterate what they posted about to replace it with something useless like 'I don't have this issue any more'

What issue?  Maybe someone else is (or will in the future) having the same issue and would benefit from your solution?  It would have been much nicer if you just replied to your post with the solution to your problem.

I kinda had the same thought. The forums are not throwaway one-time-view-then-burn notes.
