Shopping in Japan

Hey Geekhack. Since I'm in Japan, I might as well post my shopping experience here. I will have pictures. I will be going to Yodobashi for the second time with a camera this time to show you guys some goodies to check out when you come to Tokyo. Since I only have 2 days left to shop, I will only be able to fit in the Shinjuku and Akihabara area but the places are packed with things. Stay tuned.

Speaking of asian travels...I'm headed to beijing in September.  I know that's where a lot of keyboards are made, but does anyone know where one could buy such things?

I was at Beijing. For those who don't know, the Olympic stadiums have been turned into public related things. The Water Cube has been turned into a swimming pool, the Birds Nest I believe has turned into an enormous stage, and I don't know what happened to the indoor stadium. It was pretty good but not as good as Singapore, much less Japan.

Bad news, I couldn't get any pictures of Akihabara. I had to rush today since my sister wanted to go to different places. I got to go to both Cleverly stores and some Sofmap stores. They were great. I got to try out my first mechanical keyboards (and topre) and see my first computer parts. The graphics cards were a lot bigger than I though. I don't know what to think of about the motherboards. I guess they were about the size I expected. Fans and cases were bigger than I thought too. The mechanical keyboards were smaller than I thought. The feeling I was expecting was different too but it felt great. Blues by far were my most favorite switch. To me, they were the least restrictive switches. Browns were a little more restrictive but still felt great. Blacks by far were the worst switches I've ever felt. They restricted your fingers a lot. Reds were much better. I might go again tomorrow. I will try to fit in pictures. Anyways, I need help quickly since I want to buy a keyboard here since it's less expensive here than in the states. I would get a Ducky but they don't have those here. They have Leopolds, Filcos, and some other brands we don't know about. I need to know which one to get, quickly. I need to sleep soon and won't have any time tomorrow morning. Help please!

I heard Filco had a better PCB. The keycaps won't matter since I'll be replacing them with PBT caps. Which one should I get? Hurry please. Leaving soon to Akihabara but I'm going to make a short stop at Yodobashi Camera to pick my favorite headphones.

Sorry guys, no pictures. My sister took the camera with her back to the hotel. :frown: However, I did buy a Filco Black Tenkeyless which is basically a Filco Majestouch Ninja Tenkeyless but the Japanese version. I will post pictures later when I return to China.

Actually the place to go is the Studio Ghibli museum in Mitaka just outside Tokyo.

I went there as well last year, and while it was definitely time well spent as I've watched quite a few of the Miyazaki movies, the museum was a little smaller than I would have expected. Great atmosphere though, especially for children.
