Avant Stellar - can't get any macros to work
« on: Fri, 08 April 2011, 18:10:33 »
So, brand new(arrived today!) Avant Stellar keyboard, on win98 at the moment...

Remapping keys seem to work, but no matter what I do, any macro's linked to any key gives NO effect whatsoever.
Using the software, haven't tried at the keyboard level yet though.

Have done a 'master clear' a couple of times, as well as in software.

But even the simplest macro (write letter 'a' when me pressing F8) does anything at all....

Anyone out there that knows how to do this exactly?
Shouldn't be more than editing a macro, attaching it to some key, save 'profile'/file and/or download session to the keyboard. Right ?

Stumped...

Aaah, finally found a copy of the avantmanual.pdf  !
Seems like I have to activate some macro mode via the keyboard itself (boy this is really old school stuff)... And the software made macro now actually works!

Only(?) problem now is that I don't have a <> key if using an OS in my native language..... 1 physical key is missing(next to Z), and the keyboard needs a scancode from a pressed key to do any remapping it seems.

(had to do ALT+60 and +62 to get the ones above, which probably won't work in DOS?)

And regardless of macro mode now turned 'on', it seems impossible to create one that does that - including ALT+60 I mean. Hmm.
