Filco and Das key caps exchangeable?
« on: Fri, 22 April 2011, 23:52:03 »
From the looks of it.... the physical sizes are the same (from what I can see and measure). I like the look and feel of the das key caps. But I want to keep my Filco as my main keyboard (I use the das at work).

So are these exchangeable....?  Ive looked at this thread... but it compares the pad printing vs laser with some tests that I will never subject my keyboards to.

Also.... maybe its me, but it seems the DAS keys are of better quality (possibly slightly more dense).

I swapped the blank keys from one of my das keyboards to my tenkeyless. I left the spacebars though.

Last time I checked the Das/Filco keys came from identical molds and plastic but with different surface finish and lettering.

I noticed that as well. Both keycaps have distinct resonance. Drop both of them on a table, Filco one sounds more "hollow" and is louder. The DAS key sounds a bit denser. As you said, this is likely the cause of coasting.

I"ll have both keyboards (One at home and one at work) so I can always swap em back.

Thanks for your help.
