Just ordered Filco 2 brown/ thinking about returning Red

I currenlty own Red and Blue.
Blues tenkeyless, Red is fullsized.
I do like Red alot, and been using it about 2 weeks now.
I mostly type and game with Red.
For gaming, I play SC2 alot.
So far, Red has served me well for this purpose.
The lightness of the key helped me alot with this.
My fingers don't hurt even I play for a long time. It feels great too.
For FPS, its great too. But FPS only use few keys compared to SC,
so I believe it's just the feel of it matters, and I don't think FPS need a mechanical keyboard
to play it other than black switch  (black switch is great for FPS personally).

For typing and general use, I am not 100% satisfied.
Since Red is linear and light, there's really no the "point" where you think you typed.
Even for membrane, your finger can feel a really light distinct feel when your input is processed.
Red doesn't have that. You can of course hear the sound whether you typed or not with that
soothing linear typing sound, but there's really no the feel of "point" after your input had processed.
Simply put, blue has more joy when typing. Meaning it has that tactile and audio feedback much more distinct than Red does.
The best part about Red is the lightness, cloud typing, the linearness, and very comfortable.
But it could get boring if you expected for a very different experience.

I was actually thinking about this quite a lot recently.
My fingers like the keyboard cause of the lightness. In the audio feedback wise it's okay.
In the gaming, it's actually great. In the general use, I come to think it's not really worth $180.
It's mechanical keyboard, so you expect something really different from membrane.
It just feels about the same except your fingers are much comfortable.
I also agree what others have said about Red about Red being Sexy lol.
Yea I like Red a lot... but maybe I prefer the middle point that blue and brown has.

I guess that's why blue is the most fun to type on since it has the biggest difference between normal membrane.

So I just ordered Filco Majes 2 Brown on Amazon with 1 day shipping. Should arrive here on Tuesday. If I like Brown better, maybe I will return this. OR even sell this here.
If I'm gonna sell anybody interested in buying it?

But I sold most of them back so I currently own blue and red.

I do too, i don't know if it's placebo effect or not but since i got nice keyboards i use  to type more just to enjoy the feeling...

That's 'cause they are very comfortable to type on, no matter what mech keyboard you have

$180 is pretty expensive for the Linear R, but luckily Ripster's supply / demand curve is burned into my retinas, so I only have to close my eyes to remember why it costs so much.

I don't really do any gaming, but for general typing and arrowing around and editing documents, the Reds are great.  That's my main complaint with the very tactile switches; repetitive key presses tend to get a little bit obnoxious and tiring.  Since you're watching the cursor move around the screen when you're editing text, the tactile bump doesn't really add much value in that situation.

On big walls-o-text, my typing accuracy definitely suffers on the Reds, but overall they're much less fatiguing.  I'd definitely recommend them to anyone who has mild RSI / pain issues.

Blues are still the most fun.

I just took out my blue again. The experience definitely changed than my first experience with blue. Maybe it's because I have been using Red for some time.
Maybe it's the board difference or something. It does feel more distinct and more recognizable, but as for gaming, red is better.
For typing, I can say it's a little bit better. because of the sound and tactile you are more likely not to make errors but other than that, red is more comfortable...

I hope my new brown is something between. Better than my Red! I hope...

If you're wondering what Browns feel like...

Imagine a smooth pane of glass. Running your finger over a bit of it would be your Reds; light and with clean, even travel. Browns would be if you put a single drop of soda in the middle of where you run your finger across and let it dry out. That's kind of what the tactile point of a Brown feels like. It does not have any kind of "snap" to the actuation area. Just like a small area around that actuation point where there's slightly more friction. That may make it sound like a negative thing, but out of the three Cherry switches I've tried now in the past few days (Blue/Brown/Black) it is easily my favorite.

The "bump" on the browns is subtle but noticeable. It's almost like if you would stroke your forehead against a concrete wall and bump into a supporting piece of wireframe. I use this analogy to scale up the subtlety of the experience.

I personally love plate mounted keyboards and love Filcos because of it. They don't flex like certain other plate mounted ones. You'll be happy with the browns. Filco browns was my first mech. keyboard and what started this addiction in the first place.

I love my other switches for what they are but I still think browns are the best "jack of all trades" switch. The soda on a pane of glass analogy is the best one I've heard thus far. Accurately describes what it feels like.
