So after a lot of thinking and planning I ended up placing my order.

I started thinking between the XArmor most complete version with brown switches, and the Das Keyboard Model S Ultimate Silent with brown switches.

I was going to get the Das with blank keycaps cause I speak and write on Spanish, so having the wrong layout on such a expensive keyboard would be a con, so to have it look nicer, I picked the Das... until someone said: If you are going to get only one, and you have only this chance to get a mech keyboard, you might want to spend a little more and get a Deck.

I went into a quick search for Decks and didn't found the ones I wanted, they were not going to get stocked back in a couple of months... so then I ended up finding a place where to get Filcos for about the same price...

I was not sure about ordering from a page that was on other lenguage(chinese) and I found The Keyboard Co, and saw they were the only ones that had the 105 layout, the UK layout is exactly the same as the Traditional Spanish I use, except that the lettering ofc is not right...

So I was thinking about getting them and paying double of what I had in mind at the beginning...
Right before I get payed from last month, brkim does his thoughts and personal opinion comparison thread between reds and browns, and I found the Limited Edition of the Majestouch 2 NKRO US full layout on amazon, which was a little less than I was going to pay for the 105 Majestouch 1 from The Keyboard Co in UK, but with the red keycaps, the keycap puller, and RED SWITCHES, you know "cloud of boobs" like brkim said, and I ended up ordering them tonight (only 7 left, as far as I know[although it says 8 right now, after I ordered the number didn't chance I'm scared]).

Now I don't know how to handle the nerves until the keyboard arrives!!!


On a side note, I know the keycap printing on this model isn't lasered, and it fades away soon but... this might sound stupid to you, but I want to take it away, any nice ideas?
I want to have blank keycaps ^_^ and since I won't be able to order a new set of keycaps anytime soon, I want to know if anyone has any good advices on how to take this lettering out without doing too much damage to the keycaps... Thanks!!

PD: I meant or something like that cause the keyboard will arrive on tuesday to my aunts house in US, then I'll have to wait until the first week of next month to get them here, when my cousin arrives south america, lol.

You won't be disappointed. I have the same keyboard and I love it. It's one of the keyboards I will keep. I wouldn't worry too much about the keys. You can always replace them with blanks when you get them.

Yes, I've spend quite some time reading to all the sandblasting and links you have about keycaps and keycap durability. I'm not familiar with sandblasters here, since I'm no engineer or similar that might know.

But I do love the looks of the keys after being sandblasted. My girls father is an architect and he has many many of this kind of things, but I'm afraid he might not know to what I'm referring to if I say "sandblaster" to a spanish talking person, so, could you mention any examples of the regular use of this tool besides keycaps?

Perhaps I can sand blast them all and have blank keycaps, that would totally rock!

EDIT: I just read "perfect for spot rust removal" so, that's it, hahaha, don't worry, I'll seek for one now... lets hope I find someone that has something similar here.
People usually doesn't give a sh!t if something gets rusty here, they wait until it gets bend and then replace it u_u

EDIT 2: I found it, I know what it means, and some weird companies do this job for big iron tubes, the thing is, now, get them to sandblast my keycaps, I'm sure I'll get a big LOLOLOLOL on my face when I mention them if they are whiling to do this xD

You won't be disappointed. I have the same keyboard and I love it. It's one of the keyboards I will keep. I wouldn't worry too much about the keys. You can always replace them with blanks when you get them.

except that, replacing them with a new set might be something I'll do, once I find someone else whiling to bring the keycaps to me, which could be months/years =/

Well....I'm thinking you're about to chalk up some more money down the line because you're now going to be wondering what that tactile feedback is from the cherry browns are.  I personally think the blues, more so the cherry browns, are better as an intro mechanical board so that you get an idea of what you really want.  I started off with blues and I love the sound and tactility but you'll really notice how loud the blues are at night when people are sleeping especially if you have  you're girl in the room.  I got the browns right after and they fit the bill for me as a primary board with great feel and lower sound.

LoL you guys, ok ok, you are not so much bots... yet.

The bad part is a I'm a very inpatient  person, and although I payed for the 1 day shipping, and it will arrive on tuesday my aunts' place on Chicago, my cousin will be coming back to my city on south america in 3 weeks or around, so I'll have to wait until then to have it on my hands x_x

The good news is that I've found the sandblasters here on my country/city, but they do INDUSTRIAL SANDBLASTING, taking care of the maintenance of big iron tubes with the diameter of 1,8meters :S
I wonder what will they say when I ask them to sandblast my keys.

Also, Ripster, could you provide me with the specs of your sandblaster? perhaps the force it works, or the quality of the material you sandblast the keycaps, so I proceed like you did, and I don't destroy mines if the sandblaster is too strong...

a less aggressive alternative to sandblasting is sugar sanding. take off the key cap and use a bit of sugar and paper towel and lightly scrub until the lettering is removed. then rinse them off in water to get rid of the sugar residue so your keys aren't all sticky.

Wow, this sounds like a lot easier and accessible for me, lysol, have you tryied this before or someone?

by the way, after I went to the dentist today, I went to an area near by that had all sorts of metal stores and I've the card of a tech guy that makes all sizes of sandblasters and probably has a machine that I can borrow, but I would like to try the sugar thing first instead. Thanks for the info!

yes it works perfectly on pad printing, and can have mixed results on lasered depending on how deep the lettering is. obviously useless on doubleshots, but i don't know why anyone would want to. i haven't tried it on dyesubbed keys yet. but i imagine would also depend on how deep the lettering goes like lazered. i used to do it on cheap keyboards to otaku them when the lettering started to wear off. i also do it to things to remove logos or other printing like on the fronts of optical drives for example.

ever tried on a filcos keycap? it seems like the coating is better than other regular pad printing.
Also another question lysol; after doing this, cleaning the keycaps with water so they don't get sticky, how does the keycap feels? do this gets rid of the matte finish?

I'm so gonna do this now with an old keyboard I have or something and try it out, I'll let you guys how I did.

no i haven't tried it on filco, as i have never had one. it does remove coating on others i have done it on (mostly stuff like logitech and adesso). so you will have a more worn / shiny look to the keys much quicker. but it doesn't get rid of texture unless you really go crazy. further tips: use fine sugar, the raw stuff is too coarse, and have the paper towel slightly damp. doing more of a wet sanding will also make it gentler on the plastic but will take slightly longer. don't use hard pressure or it is possible to put fine scratches.

thanks for the clarifications on the edit. I'll use that baking sugar that my mom has, its very fine. Also, I've spoke my girlfriend about this, cause she knows about this tools, and she adviced to try wet sandpaper also. I'll give it a try this weekend on an old keyboard and see how it goes.

Heh, well yeah, my cousin is going to be only 1 week and not always at my aunt house on Chicago, then he goes to DC and other places, then travels to South America back and gievs it to meeehhh ^___^
