The "C" key on my rosewill rk-9000 stopped working so I'm RMAing it for a full refund. This works out nicely because I got to try out mx blues for 3 months for free. I found that the clicking started to get to me although they were a joy to type on. I also realized I didn't enjoy the clicking sound but rather the sound the keys make when bottoming out.

Anyway I want to try out the steelseries 6vg2 because it is affordable for me and the same price as I bought the rosewill. I'm always bottoming out my keys anyway because that's just how I type and game. I'm mostly a gamer and I only type to chat. I do double tap when I game (mostly mmo's).

I guess my question is will blacks be right for me? I'm guessing I have no use for the tactile bumps really since I'm bottoming out although I wish I could try browns but they're all so expensive. I've been doing research and reading how "heavy" the keys are on the blacks which is what I'm worried most about. But for someone like me who presses the keys really hard regardless, would it even be an issue?

They're definitely heavier than most switches, but quite frankly I think they're still pretty easy to use. It's not like they're actually hard to press, they'll just naturally fatigue your hands faster than lighter switches if you have a lot of keyboard work to do.

That said, for the price of a 6Gv2 you *should* be pretty close to being able to afford a tenkeyless Leopold w/ Browns (check Elitekeyboards) if you'd rather try those first.

Edit - Actually EK does have tenkeyless Leopolds still but only the "blank" version. You could also check the Classifieds section here as new stuff shows up often in all variety of switch types.

if you liked the tension of the blues, but hated the click then browns would be a good choice. if you thought they are too easy to press, then blacks would be good as they have more tension. i tried blacks first, but thought them to be too fatiguing for me over a long session. i'm using a leopold with browns right now for my primary keyboard. i really prefer it over the cherry g80 with blacks i was using before. for me it has a better feeling and my fingers aren't tired after gaming for several hours.

Thanks for the comments guys. I'm still on the fence about blacks or browns. I may pay the extra 30 or so for a Filco brown. I'm using a Lycosa at the moment and have no trouble typing on it for long periods if that's any indication of whether or not the blacks are too heavy for me.

That cable attracts dirt and dust. It is not sturdier than the Steelseries cable. It is only thicker because it has audio/USB cables there.
What about the foldable leg design? Those are easily brakeable.

Filco is loved here because they use it for 2-3 years without any problems

Don't really understand what all the fighting is about. Every manufacturer will have a few bad hardware slip through QC. Hell my Rosewill broke after 3 months and it's supposed to be a rebranded Filco (correct me if I'm wrong). I've never had any cheap membrane KB break on me.

Anyway, I've decided on the the filco TKL browns as I rather spend the extra 20 and get switches I know I'll like rather than take a gamble on the blacks
