having cable problems with noppoo choc mini
« on: Thu, 09 June 2011, 12:14:19 »
hi,

I just bought my first ever mechanical keyboard about 3 weeks ago. I bought a noppoo choc mini blue switch from ebay (this was probably my first mistake...) it looked great and worked perfectly for the first 2 weeks but then i noticed some problems. Whenever i moved the cable the "switch lock" key in the upper right corner would start flickering and then the keyboard would stop working. It would start working again when i replug the usb. After finding a post on how to take apart the keyboard on gh i went ahead and took it apart. I found that even though the keys looked clean the inside was pretty dirty with food and soda stains. I'm pretty sure that the cable was the problem so I tried stripping the cable and wiring it directly to the keyboard. I would encounter the same problems if 2 or more of the wires were touching.

So now I've decided to try to mod the keyboard with a detachable usb cable. I'm going to try to implement ripsters guide on converting a model m to a detachable usb. If anyone knows an easier way to convert a keyboard to a detachable please let me know. I would really appreciate it.

I also just got a filco ninja majestouch 2 brown switch 104 keyboard last week, which feels amazing to type on.
