keyboard stayput doodad

i was tired of my keyboard moving. i routed a 1/2" notch out of a 1" dowel cut to 2" length, i butted this against the keyboard with the cord sitting in the notch. i double side taped the dowel to the tray. did this months ago. has not budged a mm. i figured i'd mention this since others might find this simple item of interest. of course this only really works if your keyboard has the cord in the middle. the cord not resting in the dowel would stop front to back movement but not side to side.

i can't really get a pic. the dowel is under the desk in the tray. it is just a pine dowel rod with a notch in the top.

Since my desk surface is smooth I found my keyboard could move some under heavy gaming when things get hectic.  The easy fix for me was to get a XTrac Pads Ripper XXL pad.  It keeps my keyboard in place, gives me a bit of padding to rest my hands on and gives me all the mouse space I could want + looks cool :D

May not be for everybody but check it out.

Use almost the same stuff on the deck of one of my surfboards so I don't need to use wax. It's called Trakkpad.

off-topic: seen your location I kept wondering... Now I know: lucky you.  I've been living in Southern California but now I'm in Europe and at a bad place surfing-wise (200 km inland or so and the water is chilly anyway).  Still have one board and my wetsuits but I'm indeed way too far from the ocean : (

on-topic: I'm using a gigantic mousepad to prevent my keyboard from moving (not that it's really an issue with a Model M weighting nearly 2 Kg ; )
