Best place to buy Cherry MX brown keyboard in Canada?
« on: Thu, 04 August 2011, 16:11:40 »
My brother here have a 6gv2, and I feel it's time for me to switch keyboard (currently using a g15 and although it's nice and all, I think it's just a gimmicky keyboard and to be honest, it feels cheap). My bro may be switching to cherry mx brown after all we've read about gaming and stuff (we're both playing sc2 pretty hardcore). So I'd like to order one but yikes they're expensive! I wouldn't mind getting a used one and test it, and if I don't like it well I could always use the 6gv2. Don't get me wrong, the 6gv2 is awesome but there's nothing special about it, I tested a cherry mx blue keyboard once and I loved the feedback, but I could never live with the noise unfortunately. So, any help/inputs/good website or even deals on where I could buy one?

p.s i'm a newcomer on this forum and I apologize for any errors/mistakes I made, I'm also from Quebec so my english may not be the best but I can most certainly answer/read you all :), great Wiki btw.

Hey there, I'm from Canada as well and have been doing some research so I feel I can help.  I have found 2 online retailers that sell Das Keyboards, which is probably the best you can get from within Canada (I think?):

NCIX Das Keyboards

Direct Canada Das Keyboards

I think they both have the same parent company, but Direct Canada is cheaper for whatever reason.  For Cherry MX Brown switches you want the "Silent" model.  "Ultimate" has blank keys if you would like that as well. Good luck!

I strongly suggest (depending on your budget), that you get a Filco keyboard from ArmyGroup. Don't get intimidated by the lack of English, just use Google Chrome to translate or follow step by step instructions in the ArmyGroup thread to order it.

I live in Canada, BC. I bought a Filco Tenkeyless Brown from for $159 on the dot. Once it arrived, I got no taxes. I wasn't just lucky either, many report they don't get customs/taxes/duties from ArmyGroup. I asked them to mark it as a gift just in case as well.

I also just ordered the Filco wrist rest from them (if you want this, buy it with your keyboard to save on the shipping charge!), and again no customs/duties/taxes.

I had a DAS Professional S, and much more prefer the Filco.

you can get a filco for even cheaper than that, ordering from keyboardCO... and shipping takes like 2-5 days too.  at your door for 150 bucks... plus no need to do all kinds of funky translation and stuff...

Thanks for the replies guys! Unfortunately, 150 bucks is a bit too much for me ATM, with university starting I may wait until I get a job or until I find a cheaper keyboard, (120$ from ncix already looks like a decent price)
