Rosewill RK-9000 is typing doubles
« on: Sat, 06 August 2011, 13:14:14 »
Hi, a little over a month ago, I bought a Rosewill RK-9000 from a user on this forum. For about a month, it worked fine. But within the past two weeks, certain letters have begun to appear twice when hitting them only once.

I've confirmed that it is not just accidental double tapping by repeatedly hitting the same key with a space in between. It doesn't happen on all the keys, only on a, e,, s and space.

Is there anything I can do to fix this issue? I'm really disappointed that a keyboard with such fantastic reviews is giving me problems.

The only thing you can do is to desolder the bad switches, open them up, reassemble them and hope it works.

Sounds like Switch bounce (also called Chattering - that's why the Topre box says "No Chattering After 30M keypresses....").  You can try some contact cleaner but it's best to replace the switch.

Could I swap the switches with lesser used keys (f6-f10)?

Also, is there a guide to removing the switches somewhere? I can't seem to find one.
