Noppoo Choc Mini Mac OSX workaround
« on: Mon, 21 February 2011, 17:07:52 »
Okay, I got this from a Chinese friend who's on a Hackintosh and he has a choc mini.

Basically what you need is the VoodooPS2Controller.kext, here:

http://chameleon.osx86.hu/articles/voodoo-team-proudly-presents-voodoops2controller

and use a USB to PS/2 adapter - boom, magic.

He also told me that scroll lock and numlock still don't work, and tilde still returns §, but everything else works.
I don't have a Mac here at home to test this, just want to share this workaround with those of you who might want to use the noppoo under OSX, post here if this works! (Or doesn't)

I'm not sure if OS X supports scroll lock to begin with, but I may stand corrected on this.

I don't own a Mac but I do know that they don't have PS/2 ports. That isn't really a solution.

Blue Cube comes up as  "USBPS2"

Best of both worlds!

ya i was talking about hackintosh, should have clarified that in the OP, but it's quite self explanatory seeing how Macs don't have PS/2.

Maybe stick a blue cube on the end for regular macs?

Basically, that would strip out the NRKO, which is what is actually causing the problems.

Honestly, they probably don't. They are decidedly rare in mainland China, as well as most of the rest of Asia, last I checked. Basically unusable by real adults in Korea.

Is it the HID fields, or the masquerading as multiple keyboards that causes the problem?

Has anyone tried this with their hackintosh?

I have a dual boot Vista/OS X hackintosh setup and had just ruled out the Noppoo for this reason but if the workaround above works then I'd be pretty happy about it.

As the OP suggests, this should work if you have a PS2 port.

In mainland, more and more people are going to try mac, but they just install a windows  OS in it and never use Mac os agian....they buy mac only for its beautiful appearance....

Most keyboard manufacturers at least would buy ONE Mac for testing purposes.

REALLY!  I'm NO Pooooooooing you.

And I'm assuming the Ducky G2 will have the same behavior (same OEM).

I don't think the ducky G2 has that stupid USB NKRO solution?

I gotta warn you, if you do any work in the Terminal in OSX you'll have all sorts of fun without a ~ key. I had to actually grab the source and manually fix the PS2 to ADB keymap by hand until all the keys on my AT101W worked correctly. Lots of agonizing trial-and-error

Just solved this on OS X today. Go buy a blue cube PS/2 to USB converters from clickyKeyboards and then use one of those cheap direct connection USB to PS/2 adaptors. You'll convert (not kidding) usb -> PS2, then the blue cube will TRANSLATE the resulting PS2 to USB the way Mac OS X likes it to be. I'm typing this with a noppoo choc mini on OS X Lion.   Looks like this http://geekhack.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=20300&d=1310271261
