I will be trying a Leopold soon and probably also a RealForce. I'm trying to choose the force weights to go with, based on my past experience with other keyboards. I'm using it for business use -- fast typist.
I've been using a CVT Avant Stellar for a number of years and I like it very much (but hope to find something I like even better -- and a lot quieter).
I was wondering if there's any chance someone might happen to know the type of keys in the Avant Stellar. I know they're ALPS but I don't know which kind of ALPS. They're "very" noisy, if that helps. Knowing which type they are might help me choose which weight of keys to get in the Leopold or RealForce.
On one guide I looked at, though, I saw something that confused me a lot. It said ALPS white and black are all in the 60-70g range. That surprises me because it also says the Unicomp is in that general range, and when I tried the Unicomp SpaceSaver before going with the Avant Stellar I didn't like the Unicomp at all because I found the keys much too hard to press for my preference.
What am I missing here? I assumed my Avant Stellar takes far less force weight than the Unicomp. Maybe that's not an accurate guide I saw? It's not on geekhack so I didn't even bother linking to it. I've been looking for a comparable guide with force weights of the most common switches on geekhack but have yet to find it -- so many things come up with those common search terms.
I'm thinking 45g is probably my target. I'm planning to try the Leopold full-size brown as soon as it's announced. And maybe also a RealForce that's as close to 45g and quiet as they have in a full-size (that "silent black" I noticed a post about looks interesting, but I'm a full-sized user). My thinking 45g is a good target is based on assuming the Avant Stellar I've been using is "a lot less" than the 60-70g of the Unicomp.
Thanks!
