KBTalking Pure (60% Keyboard)
« on: Thu, 03 March 2011, 12:29:43 »
Will probably have very similar build design and quality with KCB Poker but with different key layout design. They are in Pre-order phase now. Offering blue, brown, black, and red switches. ABC cap by default. PBT with additional cost, different choices of cap printing method are available as well.

They are also planning on offering 2nd anniversary edition. The anniversary edition will come with POM caps (same specs as cherry), red switches and wood casing. They are also considering mounting LEDs on all the switches (don't think they are going for back-lit caps tho).

Nobody quite copies the HHKB arrow key function layout.   KBtalking or KBC Poker.

Maybe it's not the best?

I believe not being the best arrrow key layout is the case.

The reaching distance between up and down in HHKB is too far apart and the left and right are too close to each other, making quick navigating in four different directions rather awkward. Same logic to the WASD layout for FPS games. WASZ wouldn't be too nice :)

Cost?

The above translates to

English key caps
1. Black: 1799 NTD
2. Blue:  1899 NTD

4. Red: 2599 NTD
5,6,7,and 8 are for Chinese key caps

9. Anniversary Edition: 3999 NTD
The anniversary edition will come with POM caps (same specs as cherry), red switches and wood casing. They are also considering mounting LEDs on all the switches (don't think they are going for back-lit caps tho).

Those are Pre-order pricing... retail price might be a bit more.

I don't get the big deal with the KBC boards

Id much prefer something more solid like the Noppoo choc mini, am I missing something amazing about this? board?

Just a matter of personal preference .

Even the developer of the KBTalking Pure said that its gonna be a niche product.

I just ran into this thread, this little keyboard looks neat! It has some improvements over the Poker for me: arrow keys on the right hand, dedicated escape AND dedicated backtick/tilde, sticky FN, BS/Del swap (nice for those working with variety of unix and networking equipment). I even see an NumLock function, does this mean it also has an embedded numpad ???

I wonder if this keyboard is available for purchase in the US, does anyone know?

Looks like new version is ANSI. Did it switch all together or are the offering both? If they aren't offering ISO at all they lost the huge advantage they would have had over Poker in European market. Either way I already have a Poker and have no need for something that is so similar, though I do like some of the 2nd layer better on this keyboard.

They posted about this on Deskthority yesterday, with lots of interior pics. I think it's better laid out than the Poker.
