I know its a tweener....really not mechanical, but a little more than just a rubber membrane as well. As you guys know it looks very similar to white alps as far as a switch, but in general instead of a spring there is a blue rubber membrane. I know still no excuse, but what the heck its been a door stop for years! This model (RT7D5JTW) from what I understand is earlier and better than later model Dell Quiet Keys.............? Just going off what I was told.
After completely taking apart, removing a Happy Meal, large root beer and 3 cups of coffee...........doing a 6 hour oxy soak it cleaned up pretty good. I taped it and painted the background with black Rustoleum texture for plastic- hard as a rock! Of course it was tedious in having to individually tape off every key, but I think for a low cost quickie it turned out pretty good. I lubed all the rubber membranes to where they all nice and springy as well. Took some red upholstery striping to jazz up under the F keys:)
