Have you considered a Filco or a Topre? Ducky or Rosewill? WASD or Xamor? IBM model M or Unicomp? Logitech or Genius?

Do you have money and need a keyboard?  If yes to both parts of the question then yes it's worth it.  If it's a no to you having money, then it's not worth it.

Pretty simple.

Assuming you live in the US buy a second hand mechanical off of Ebay like a Compaq 11800 or something. Mod it and stuff, see if you like it, then upgrade to the big guns.

Once you're tired with cherry MX might be worth checking out Topre.

Personally, I think the switches in the Compaq MX-11800 feel quite different from the Cherry MX Brown in my Filco. The Filco keys feel lighter. Whether it's better to get a Compaq first before moving to a more expensive keyboard, I cannot say if it's right or wrong. It's up to the buyer to decide, therefore I won't comment on that.

Whether the Das is worth it, I say yes. Blue or brown? It's a personal preference. While is nice to type on, I prefer the blue Cherry switches.

Agreed totally. But over in the US it would cost you $30 for a dirt cheap mechanical and means you can get a feel for them, open up the switches and lube/make ergo clears, etc etc.

Might as well get your toes wet before you dive.

Those located in the US are lucky indeed. My keyboards cost me more because I am in Canada.

short answer: it's only worth if if you can afford it... DUH!

better answer: compared to other keyboards around the same price, i'd say it's worth it. the key cap material seems pretty solid, although it does have a wobble to it (i haven't gotten a chance to compare it to other keyboards with the same switches). it also has 2 convenient USB ports hubs, which very few mechanicals have, other than the razer blackwidow. i personally think it looks pretty nice

lol.. what does pride have to do with getting a leopold or filco?  I paid only 80 after new egg coupons and sale, so i am satisfied with my purchase.  Though my friends looked at me funny, when they found out how much I paid for them.

I picked up my forth mech a week ago when Newegg had the das pro S silent for $99 with free shipping. I also got my work to pick up one fore me as I was going nuts with the rubber dome board in the office and they don't allow external equipment.

The board is solid and is sitting as a daily typer now on my spare box that is used for a lot of development. I went from a razer with blues as my wife complained about the sound when I am hacking away on code.

As for our gaming systems, I have a ficlo ninja maje-2 with browns and my wife a leo tenkeyless with reds that she is in love with. Most of the high end boards are great to get and will last you. Just take the leap and you will be happy.

Also, I have heard good things about the Rosewill boards. They have been cheap lately on newegg and I have heard they are very good in build quality.
