Before anyone pipes up citing the less-than-stellar reviews it got, give it a try. If you don't take it seriously, it still retains the spirit of '3D.

I picked it up last time it was one sale but got bored of playing after 15 minutes or so. But yeah it doesn't deserve the harsh criticism it received, everyone had totally unrealistic expectations and seem to have selectively forgotten to remember all the mediocre games that have passed since between Duke Nukem Forever and Duke Nukem 3D.

I just picked up Gun and the Dreamcast Collection on sale though, neither of which I'll probably ever play but it's nice to own things.

So far I think it's decent and unworthy of most of the criticism it received. Most annoying thing is the movement and controls though. Feels like you're stuck in jello sometimes.

I think the criticism is based on the high expectations.

If the game would not be released as Duke Nukem, the critics would have been much kinder.

Nevertheless it is not a great game. But it is good enough to be bought for this price IMO.

Been playing it for a little while now, and IMO it's the best Duke game ever! The reviews I read were complete bull****. I don't know what they were expecting, but the stuff they complained about I've yet to find (difficult scavenger hunts/difficulty controlling vehicle) - uh no, you probably just suck at the game.

For all the time this game has been in development and changing hands/companies/developers/engines, etc., I am very satisfied.

No, it's just ****. It's not even deserving of "oh, it's silly fun", or "expectations were too high".

Go play Duke 3D again, you'll enjoy yourselves more.

Everyone should buy Hard Reset instead. Its like what this game should have been, gameplay wise.

I miss Kalrykh

...but yea IMO it's a fun game. Now that I got the mouse precision right I don't really have an issue with the controls. The freeze ray was disappointing though.
