Increase lift-off distance through glass

I have a Steelseries I-2 mousemat. Its made of glass, so my Mamba can't track through it because the Mamba's lift-off distance is too low.

Think I could do something to use this mousepad with my mouse? I was thinking I'd try putting tape on the bottom of the mousepad, or something.

Edit: Turns out the bottom of the mousepad is black, so tape wont help. I also tried putting scotch tape over the sensor; no good.

Should work with the mamba I posted this in another thread. Whatever is going on is probably either due to the sensor or dirt or something because it works. It's odd how you say lift-off distance is too low, generally people prefer low-to-no lift off distance like the mechanical mice(rollerball) which allows you to lift the mouse up and reset it without shifting your view. Depends on the game and your play style but generally you'll find people preferring a lower-lift off. Of course like I said there's probably a number out there who like it a bit higher or should I say controllable to utilize different positions and flicking motions.

Sounds like it might be your mamba man.

AFAIK there is no way for you to increase the LOD since 99.5% of people the use mice try to get lowest as possible.

its almost ok when I keep the Mamba directly on top of the mat. But it takes NOTHING for it to stop tracking because LOD is so low. It makes the mouse+mat combination feel very untrustworthy

By nothing do you mean under 1.2mm? What mouse did you use prior?

Sure, under 1.2mm. at least thats what it feels like.

Microsoft Sidewinder, the first one; was my last mouse. But its the mousepad that is new, im used to the mouse. The Mamba works great on other mousepads
