Super Rare SSK
« on: Wed, 12 October 2011, 12:33:36 »
I just found a really rare SSK I didn't know I had. It's dated 05DEC87. Part number: 1392464.

very rare keyboard. Special key labels correspond to IBM’s DisplayWrite word processor commands. Has unique key custom keycaps by IBM and reduced size of CTRL and ALT keys. However, works just like a standard keyboard.

It's just like this one:

I'd really like to know how much this bad boy could be worth. Have any ideas?

Link's broken. Here's one that works.

What sort of condition is it in?

Sorry. Here is the right link.

The keyboard I have is in great shape. No scratches or writing. All keys intact. Beautiful!

I will have to take pictures of it to put on here. I was shocked that I have one. It's neat!

I'm hoping to maybe sell it even though I'd hate to sell it because I will probably never see one again.

I thought about Ebay but will all the fees I just don't know.

Nice find! I wouldn't be surprised if this is worth $200 or more (way more if it's NIB). Is yours used, or new-in-box ?

Mine is a used keyboard. I really need money to pay on some bills. Still no job yet. Hopefully will have one soon.

Well if you need the money, you need the money. Like sordna said, you can easily get $200+ for it.

Here are pics of the keyboard. I haven't really done any cleaning on it but still fairly clean.

I am going to ask $350 for it. I know that's a crazy number but it's something to start with. Will probably never see another one like this. It comes with the ps/2 cable. You can PM me with offers.

Immaculate?

Anyway, Welcome to The IBM Space Saving Club!
I'm pretty sure Bryan has been part of that club for a long while now. He's sold 10s of space savers, and still has more to go, I think.

I bought six of them last year from someone who didn't really know what he had.  Paid about $60 apiece.  One was used, the others were new.  Also saw someone on the forum a few months ago who had several he was planning to sell, but never saw them listed on Ebay.  So evidently they're not as rare as you'd think based on the description at Clickykeyboards.

Now Ripster's Industrial SSK, that's rare, as well as his Financial Keycaps SSK.
