Problem with B and N keys on Filco keyboard

Hi guys. Firstly I'll say although I've never posted before; I found this site extremely helpful when I was first looking into getting a mechanical keyboard and deciding what I wanted to go with: so thanks to whoever wrote those guides that I read. Last November I bought a Filco Majestouch (the one with brown switches) which was my first mechanical keyboard and the best keyboard I've ever owned ^^ The reason I'm posting now is that a couple of the keys on this keyboard, B and N, have recently been not working properly. The majority of the time they work fine and there is no noticeable problem, but sometimes they won't respond for a few seconds when I press them or will react as though I pressed them 5 times when I only pressed them once. When I first noticed this problem I took all the caps off and cleaned all the dust, hair and other crap out from under the keys, but as I expected that didn't help at all. I don't really know what I'm doing so I thought I'd come here and ask if anyone has any suggestions as to what the problem might be and what I need to do to fix it. The problem is only the B and N keys at the moment. I use this keyboard for hours every day, for university work and StarCraft II mostly, and this problem is really starting to annoy me so hopefully someone has some advice. Thanks.

I would try cleaning just those two keys/switches again.   See the wiki for proper way to take it apart.  On my old mechanical i got off ebay, quite a few of the keys did the same things you mention, not registering, or registering multiple times and a good cleaning is what finally cleared that up.  I just used a Q-tip and compressed air to fix mine.  If that doesn't work, i'll defer to the real experts here.

if you push the key and the character appears seconds later then it's not the switch.

This. It's either a software problem on your computer, or it's a problem with the logic board in your keyboard. The switches are actually quite simple in design and probably aren't the problem.

Hey guys, I'm still having problems. The problem affects more keys now and also these keys won't register any key presses like 95% of the time but will suddenly all start working at once for a short time before dying again. Since it's not related to the switches is there anything I can do? It's not a software problem on my computer because other keyboards work fine. It's been opened up now so I definitely can't get it replaced on warranty

Have you tried the board on another computer? Try booting a Linux LiveCD and see the problem exist.

It doesn't work properly on other computers either. Is there a way I can fix this myself, or if not could I get it fixed by someone else or should I just give up on this keyboard?

Sounds like a logic board problem. I don't know how long the warranty on the Filcos are, but it seems like a manufacturing defect. Look into seeing if the board is still covered, otherwise that's one hell of a bummer dude

if he got it last november I would assume it's still (barely) under warranty (assuming standard 1 yr. warranty) - contact TKC right away!
