Ok so a few weeks ago I found this cool looking old computer in the garbage at work (literally in the dumpster...don't ask). I grabbed it and it sat in my basement for a few weeks. I decided to take a look at it tonight and it looks like it not only has cherry mx blue switches but also double-shot key caps. Yay, my first set of double shots! Bonus: boots into windows 98

wow. Why are they so coveted? The only problem with the keyboard is that it has what looks like an RJ11 jack. Not sure if this could be used on another pc without some custom work.

I know someone in facilities at work. They have a room that is used to cache old computer equipment. When they need to put more stuff in there, usually a bunch of other stuff gets tossed. My friend is kind enough to let me know when they throw stuff out. Most of it's junk... but take it home anyway ;p

Well, make sure you take home the free money, that stuff is like, the best.

FYI, there are instructions and diagrams on how to make an adapter for the various Dolch keyboards, do a Google search on site:geekhack.org to find them. If you use a keystone jack, you might not even need to solder.

You did well. DOLCH DS are highly coveted.
It's very hard to find DOLCH Keyboards for sale. Most of it are sold as a whole unit, which makes them pretty expensive.

Because they are supposed to only have crap. If they have good stuff all the time, they wouldn't be what they are.

to the OP, the dolch caps are highly coveted because a) the color scheme is extremely attractive b) the font is very attractive c) the mold used to make those keys was high quality and produced thick keys that some people like more than signature plastics' key molds d) they're just darned rare

I've sometimes wondered what good **** I've thrown out or given away without realizing what it was worth... Might have to start walking around with a Key puller every time I see a keyboard on the side of the road now
