« on: Mon, 30 January 2012, 19:11:13 »
Just ended up spending $310 in a 3 weeks for keyboards LOL,and I think I had plenty of money spending trying to land a good deal on a good quality board, except the "Unicomp on the ball 96U1114" but I didnt know its ruber membrane... first I purchased then I found some info on it... well barelly found any info. Anyways here is the keyboards I spend on it although the Razer Black Widow Ultimate I got it for $45 from best buy because I had a store credit of $70 on a year and a half old G15 Logitech,Here are the keyboards I bought and I think I will give this keyboard shopping a rest cause I want to get an ACER 27" ultra thin monitor....

-Unicomp Space saver black-silver(6 months old)
-Unicomp on the ball  96U1114 (Brand New)
-Black Widow Ultimate (Brand new)
-TG3 BL82 / Deck 82 fire (Brand New)
-Dell AT101W (Brand new)-no box wrapped in plastic sealed,no shine on keys
-IBM Model M (Brand New)-no box wraped in the factory tape, cable also wrapped in plastic,no shine on keys.

Key caps, key caps, key caps. I purchased PBT, then wanted to try Double Shots, and then thought, hell, I could use a Triforce as my esc key...

$60 later I now know what double shots and PBT keys feel like at least :).

thanks Gawk, it all started with buying the Meka G1 and I ended up returning it to Amazon for full refund because the legends on the keycaps started to become grayish from the pearl white, and that was with lite gaming,I did got disappointed from the keycaps ,not from the board itself, its a lovely sturdy, heavy board with monster cable on it which I loved, But couldnt justify spending 100 bucks on a board and then barelly 2 months after that spending another 50 on pbt keycaps....Currently typing on the Space Saver since I bought it slightly used and the rest of the keyboards are in the closet looking pretty brand new.... not sure about the black widow though, not thats something wrong with it,but its just I know them keycaps wont last longer than 1 year. I'm also gaming on the space saver and all that 2NKRO only has yet to bother me honestly... no incidents so far, loving it, I might add later on some new key caps or might just ritdye the same layout like the IBM model M of the grey keys but in red color instead lol, will be nice first time playing around with it...

Arent DS just like the regular ABS caps? How do you like PBT in comparison?

When I went sent payment for the DS I was still learning about the different kinds of plastic and lettering techniques that were used in making key caps.

The feel is rather similar but there is more "solidness" to when you press a key as opposed to the stock ABS ones that came with my Quickfire.
PBT has a better texture in my opinion, doesn't seem to be as "slippery" as the double shots. They also slightly muffle the loud click of the Cherry Blues,
unlike the Double Shots which seem to resonate louder with a higher pitch click.

Keyboards are modern toys for men, since they cannot buy sex toys for their fingers.

Good spending however.

word of of advice here.. stay away from classifieds and mods sections the worst occasionally shows up there, and when it does, often irresistible
if you already do.. well, you're beyond help.

good thing I don't live in the country where you can get most of the vintage switch quite easily, otherwise I'd be ashes now

@laffindude
yup.. or bought $300 keyboard so that you can strip the parts to put on another...
yesterday I sat staring at my invoice of topre uniform 30g, which I took only for the sake of taking out the domes, wondering whether I finally lost it
I think I do now, so I start posting

Depends dude, one got sold NIB for $300+, another used one that seller guaranteed to be in good working condition but somewhat dirty needed cleaning went for 60-70 bucks.... I go my new IBM model M without box but wraped in factory tape for $80 included shipping.

the μTron ergonomic keyboard with Topre keys is nearly $600 new.  $300 would be a FANTASTIC deal. :)
