Dell keyboards
« on: Sun, 30 January 2011, 10:30:51 »
So last week I went trawling through ebay's great wastes looking for a reasonably priced AT101W. Since all searches brought up overpriced AT101Ws from sellers who knew enough to know they were valuable, but didn't know that $35+ is too much, I had to get creative. Except I'm not, very. So I put in the search term "Dell Keyboard", refined that with exclusions, then got to work.

I went through forty goddamned pages of laptop keyboards and SK100s to find these, so some of y'all better pick them up.

$4.95+shipping

Dell AT101W (black)

$4.95+shipping

I also found a NIB Dell Quietkey for under $25 shipped, but the auction ended with no bids. I'm contacting the seller now. Is there any interest on here for it?

And me? I got a decent AT101W for $12.49 shipped from some liquidation company that thought it was just some random keyboard (which it kind of is... :p)

yes, black alps sliders

the quietkey is a rubber dome, though i must say it is the best dome I've ever typed on.

As a side note...I seriously wish I could get my hands on a black 101w over here in europe.
I guess ill have to try and get one once i visit back in the states, im thinking of making a black tenkeyless modded 101 for uni^^.

I have yet to find a dell keyboard I didn't like. Rubber dome or other.

AT-101s (and AT-101Ws) can be great when new/clean, but I have owned 3-4 that were ravaged by age/dirt. I got a new one with a Dell system in about 1998 that served me flawlessly for years, but I have bought used ones that were dogs, even though they looked good.

Ripster is both right and wrong about Alps, they can be very sweet or quite painful. Once they get sick, euthanize them (save the keycaps, beige keys on a black board looks wicked).

Otherwise, Dells can be all over the map. They re-branded a lot of great boards.

The original QuietKeys from Malaysia are great, but later ones decline.

I have a couple of those modern small footprint types that are OK for rubber domes.

You can do worse than Dell.
