Chicony KB-5191: Fake, or original Cherry MX Blue?

Cherry logo on switch housing = genuine. Good score. The MX copies have nothing on them, and no led mount/diode spot. I have read that early production used real Cherry switch, then they switched to MX fakes then finally domes. Some also had Monterey or Alps copies.

Does anyone know which other model numbers have MX? I have seen 5161, and some 5181 but also it seems sometimes same model number can be Alps or whatever random... it's hard to figure out what it might be before purchase. I noticed sometimes there is various letters after the 4 digit model, does it have to do with switch type maybe? Does yours davkol?

Yup... for example, a 5181F uses Futaba switches.
Hardware in signatures clutters Google search results. There should be a field in the profile for that (again).

This message was probably typed on a vintage G80-3000 with blues. Double-shots, baby. :D

Seems that I found out 5181CT = (click type? lol) MX blues. I just bought one. I think I'm going to attempt to pcb mod mine to use real ansi enter \ and 2unit backspace like it should be. Bigass enter, tiny backspace is the devil. I've seen some people pull off such a mod, and I can always salvage the switches if I ruin it.
