Web store options to order custom keycaps
« on: Sun, 20 May 2012, 00:03:19 »
I have a Rosewill RK-9000 I want to customize.

I want to have minimum 5 custom keycaps with graphic which cost $50 at WASD store. Is there any other cheaper option out there?

Thanks a lot..

Welcome to geekhack.  :-)

Take a look at http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?20485-Double-shot-replacements-ROUND-FOUR!-leftovers-for-sale!! for just one example of keycaps sales that go on around here.  $50 is the low end for a full set though.  You can find cheap Chinese sets on ebay.  Also check out the vendors' forum, as well as classifieds.

Hi,

I didn't mean whole set :)

Just 5 individual custom keycaps.

You could do custom caps through imsto. Shipping is like 15 or 25 dollars though xD but each key should only be 4 dollars. But he only does white keys :x

I would throw your idea out to see if others are interested.  1 custom cap is crazy priced, but if you can get a bunch of people interested it gets reasonable.

Thanks for suggestions.

I have another question: they are some keyboard examples on WASD which should cost around $1000 since almost all the keys have custom graphics on them (like the ones where all the keys create a picture when looked together). I wondered whether I am missing something or people really love their keyboards :)

Wait a minute.. I am lost now.

Their full keyboard customization tool doesn't even have option to upload a picture. They already have some default picture sets which let you create smt like this:

But for this:

you cannot use it.

Or can you?

:) sorry to be so dumb but could you guys tell me how to order fully custom key cap set.

They have the option to order fully custom single key cap for $10. But that's reason why I started this topic :D

Here are some more examples:
http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/index.php/blog/custom-layouts/

I believe you have to download the vector template, then create your keyboard layout, then upload the entire design to the designer.
---

Hmm, this used to be the case. It says on the custom art page that if you have a large amount of custom art, please contact him for pricing.

According to the blog post WASD linked from their blog post (above), he got the template file from him on email.

Thanks! I will look into this. Hope it works out that way. If I can have a complete set of 104 fully custom keys for ~$60 that may not be that bad.

Can you post here with the information? I'm starting work on what PBT I want made once PBT is available.

Also keep in mind that the black will soon be changed so that the lasering will show up white instead of that "gold" colour.

From the top two examples, the first one was made using graphics selected from the Custom Designer. The second example, the customer downloaded the template (which you can get by scrolling down on the Custom Designer page).

When you use a custom upload, it will come out to the same price. Set you layout to blank online to reduce the price. Only use it to specify the keycap colors.

Custom set: $59.99
Blank custom set: $49.99 + $10.00 upload = $59.99

If you would like us to create the layout for you based on a set of images you have, just send me an email with some of the art you want converted and let me know how many you need. I can give you a price based on the complexity of the art.
