Erstwhile lurker here. I just bought a Siig Minitouch as my second mechanical board after guessing that it might be ALPS, not buckling spring, that was the source of the "good keyboard feeling" I'd been remembering from computer labs past. I really like it so far. The keys feel a bit stiffer than my Model M, but there are a few keys that seem extra stiff, and I think it might be more than just me not being used to this switch type. It seems like it's mostly the larger keys—the L-shaped enter, the backspace, and (to a lesser extent) the left shift key—that are kind of sticky. If you hit them in just the right spot (middle to outer edge) and press down as perpendicular to the board as possible, they seem to depress without problem. But if you hit them more toward the inner edge, as I tend to do while typing since they are at the edges of the keyboard, they really stick and are tough to get down at all. I'm wondering, is that just the way it is with this switch type and the larger keys, that you have to be more precise with the way you hit them? (The space bar is no problem at all.) Or could they be gummy/need cleaning or be damaged somehow?
The seller listed it as "refurbished" and said it was fully tested, so I don't know if it was an oversight or damage during shipping or just the way these keyboards are after a certain age. I contacted them and am awaiting a response; but in the meantime, has anyone experienced similar issues with this keyboard? I like it enough and it works well enough that if the seller ends up saying, "tough ****," I'd still be happy to use it and see if there's anything I can do to make it work a little better... Or maybe my pinky strength just isn't all it needs to be and after some practice I'll be able to power-mash through those sticky keys? I'm really liking it otherwise! :/ And I do think ALPS were the "good keyboard feeling" I was after!
