I got to play it for a bit on a friend's beta account.  It looks amazing of course, and was a ton of fun.  There's something deeply satisfying about the dead simple "click to kill" mechanic.  I only played D2 very casually so I can't comment on any of the gameplay changes.

Oh God, not another Diablo game. The last one claimed 4 years of my life. I still have nightmares where I'm being chased by cows with halberds.

The guys d3dev (twitter)  have been working on a server emu hack for the beta. They've made alot of progress recently, and as of now you can load a character, run around, spawn zombies and hack them.

My only complaint with diablo 3 is the fact the palette doesn't match the other games. Especially the first one.

You'll be able to buy/sell stuff on the Auction House for REAL money. Rumors say you might be able to even make a living out of it.

Wouldn't there be a lot of gold farmers then? Then the price would go so low it would cost 10 bucks to get the rarest item in the game.

Not sure, but knowing how much Blizzard hates Gold Farmers, I'm sure they've created a pretty cool system to fight them away. Also I don't think you'll be able to get the best items in the game easy enough that even some brainless farmer can have access to them.

I wouldn't say that farmers are brainless... and in diablo 2, you just did repetitive runs to farm items.

Hmm I just read this saying that Blizzard doesen't actually plan to do anything specific....weird.http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/08/02/blizzard-on-diablo-3-gold-farmers-and-players-really-doing-the-same-activity/

Eh doesn't matter to me, I would never buy a diablo item even if it was 1 cent, rather just play it and get the loot myself.  Part of the fun is trading with friends and finding loot.

Yer I agree, I dont plan on buying/selling anything either but its nice seeing that theres more money flowing through games and the whole concept of "professional gaming" is promoted.

Well with the decline of WoW the Chinese will need a new game to introduce into their concentration camp gold farms.

The purpose of the in-game gold and item selling is to eliminate the fraud and account hacking that are involved with people buying gold and items outside of the game.  They aren't trying to get rid of gold farmers, they are trying to make it safe.

More troubling than the gold auction house is the requirement that you're always online.  I have Comcast, with plenty of downtime.  No single player.

I have had access to the beta for 6 days now.  So far I played through Wizard and Barbarian.  The beta is short.  If you know where you are going, you can run through it in an hour or less.  It took me about a little more than 2 hours to do a 100% sweep.  The beta is supposedly easier than it will be when it ships.  I did die twice, once playing by myself, once with my son during co-op.  During co-op the mobs are stronger, so I died quickly as a Wizard when I was trying to fight a crowd by myself.

There are lot of blue item drops.  They are usually magical with additional attributes.  When you finish the final boss in the beta, you get a yellow item.  I have 2 yellow items now since I finished it twice.  The chest is available to all your characters.  So I share all my good gear across my characters.  In this beta the chest comes with 14 slots.  You can pay 2,500 gold for additional 14 slots.  I have done that 3 times so I now have 56 slots.

You can sell your loots, even if you are not in town, which is great, or you can break them down for materials that you can use to craft.  It looks like you can craft a lot of many items, weapons, armors, and such.  But I haven't done that very much yet since I get better gear from playing.

while you are in a dungeon, if you need to go back to New Tristism, you can go back via an on-demand portal, and you can come right back where you were in the dungeon and continue.  I didn't play much D2, but this is very similar to what I could do in Titan Quest.

Every new level you get a new move.  initially you can only have 2 (or 3, don't remember) moves active at the same time.  When you increase in level, you will be able to have more moves active at the same time.

That's it for now.  I am going to start a new character now :-).

The real cash auction house sounds like a broke teenager's dream come true. While I'm in my twenties and probably won't have time to farm and sell (except maybe in the evenings), I could easily see my 15-year-old brother using Diablo to fuel his tech/gaming desires.

I liked the new Diablo(Beta).
It reminded me a lot of Diablo 1&2. Good feel to it, I might buy it.
But, i am also afraid of the addiction that might come with it.. so i might not. :decision:

I made the mistake of changing my delivery date on Amazon for the collectors edition, now my release date delivery is gone forever and I have to wait until Thursday to play. Already waited 12 years, another 2 days won't kill me... I hope.

Thanks man!  I knew something didn't seem right when I played the open beta, and I'm pretty sure this was it.  Bright vibrant colors aren't in any way conducive to Diablo's atmosphere.  Downloaded and awaiting my CE copy which arrives tomorrow!
