Tool Boxes / Work Benches
« on: Tue, 23 December 2014, 19:43:34 »
I got a nice tool work bench for Christmas this year and will be putting in foam inserts to organize my tools. Curious if anyone has a nice set-up they would like to share. Want to get some ideas.

This is the media section.

Where are the photos: :p
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I'll have to update with the awesome chest Badwrench gave me.    It does need some keyboard bling and stickers on the outside.  I had to epoxy cardboard onto the back because of my damn cats though.

I'll take a picture of it assembled

I recently made a workbench for a limited space in my room - had to be custom sized for apartment life in the city, so I used precut aluminum extrusions and plate. Still a work in progress adding various bits and pieces.. but here's a somewhat blurry (I rolled a 1 on the photography check) shot of what it look like now:

I think yours is more a toolbox, than it is a bench.

Adam Savage (known from Mythbusters on Discovery Channel) have a couple of videos on Youtube where he talks about his workshop and how he organises his tools. He is quite serious about that.. and is not only a connoisseur of various shelves and tool boxes but has built a few himself.
Adam Savage's Mythbusters Toolbox - a thread on another forum about building a replica of the one he carries around on Mythbusters. Adam himself provided a few hints and photos of his own.
