Need some advice, please.
« on: Thu, 02 August 2012, 05:21:21 »
Hi guys,
Sorry to register and then instantly post asking for help, but I'm stuck and in need of some expert advice.

I'm currently using a Microsoft Natural Keyboard Elite (Model: KB-0045, if that helps).  It's an ancient thing that I "borrowed" from the office 6+ years ago. I use it for work and gaming. I love the ergonomic design (ergo and gaming don't seem to mix) and the fact that I can comfortably hit the B, V and C keys with my thumb while avoiding the space bar because that row of keys is raised - which is great for games.  Having poked around this forum a bit, it looks like it might not be the greatest gaming keyboard though.

I've tried to find a new one in NZ, but you just cant get them over here anymore.  So I'm looking for a replacement.

Any suggestions?

Unless you're a pro gamer, I'd say you could probably use anything. So at that point it's more about just the personal preference. Since you're here, try a mech board. I'd suggest anything you can get cheap on the local ebay or whatever else to start.

You can get a mechanical keyboard with more thumb keys. Look up kinesis: They're pretty awesome. A DIY option that will hopefully be made soon is the ergoDOX: http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=22780.0

I will be using my ergoDOX for gaming, that's for sure.
