It all looks like 3D renderings to me. The location of the touch pad on the right side is what I find the most interesting feature about this laptop -- no clicks or cursor movements by mistake when typing.
No built-in speakers? I did not see any speaker grille or anything on the spec sheet... but then I suppose that real games use headphones.

The site called the introduction to the hardware as "benchmarks". Benchmarks!?!?

Razer Blade?
I wonder if they'll be receiving a message from IBM in regards to the blade centers.

And that thing just looks like a macbook pro. Nothing special.
Heck, they're even stealing Apple's usual bragging with "The World's first"... "The World's best" etc.

Alienware at least makes unique chassis.

Razer is more about aesthetics than performance. Get yourself a nice IBM and you'll have something faster than all of the "gaming computers".

Your guys record has never been good on new technology.  I'm so glad I have AAPL with those nasty iPad revenues.  This was posted quite a while ago.

fail, the Razer Blade is an actual laptop and was just announced August 26th, 2011.  The Razer Switchblade is a netbook and a different product

I think they might have abandoned the switchblade in favour of the blade, not sure. Either way, I'm not really impressed. I won't be getting one, it would be nice if they put some work into making a line of good keyboards.

Blade is a generic therm, and is used by dell, hp, ibm and so on to name a specific form factor.

The copyrighted brand from IBM is "Bladecenter" (one word), not blade.

The 10 keys over the LCD might MLs, rest very likely junk... Atleast they do call those "tactile"...
So I should add something useless here yes? Ok, ok...

My theory is that there is only a single LCD screen with holes in it. Each transparent button would have legs that go through these holes, and one leg per key rest on a rubber dome switch.
If the engineer was really clever, however, the keypad would have some kind of scizzor switches, but I find it unlikely.

I think they work like the keyboard on the king of smarphones

Where the physical keyboard was just a mechanical layer over a resistive touchscreen, whit the right materials can be done also on capacitive screens. There are some clones of the p800's keyboard for the iphone.

I thought the same as the OP - one of the reasons I've never ever thought about buying an Alienware. $2800 sounds reasonable to me for a truly high-end 17" consumer if it delivers on everything it promises, although I guess a de-rigeur SSD will take it over the $3K mark. It's odd isn't it when people go nuts over the $2500 Brokeback Pro then say this is overpriced.

The product doesn't look so impressive. I highly doubt that the design of that keyboard would be comfortable to type on even if they implemented mechanical switches into it.
