A question for all the KBT Pure owners out there...

Where is the led light positioned in relation to the switch? Is it just above the switch like on my Ducky Shine II, or is it elsewhere (i.e. next to the switch)?



And for anyone who has owned a KBT Pure and a Ducky Shine, or has seen both in person, how is the KBT Pure in terms of brightness in comparison to the Ducky Shine? Are they about the same, is one brighter than the other?

I believe that all the Pures use the LED slot in the switch... Not sure what orientation they are in though.

Looking at my all be it non-led Pure, the hole for the diodes is at the bottom, but I wouldn't take this as gospel, rather wait for someone with a lit board to confirm...

I tried finding pictures of a KBT Pure with leds and the keycaps removed but I couldn't find anything. I'm sure there are pics but I just couldn't find any. Maybe someone who has a KBT Pure w/ leds and has changed their keycaps will chime in!

I could be wrong on this but I think pcb mounted switch has the led on the bottom and plate mounted on top? Hmmm but what about the race, I think that one is top mounted and pcb switch. Beats me, but pure has it on the bottom for sure.

I have both, can post up some comparison shots after but yeah ducky is a million times brighter and has more settings for brightness as well.

Yes that answers my question, thank you very much.

What I was trying to figure out was whether the leds would shine through my ccng set better on a Ducky Shine or a Pure, not just in terms of brightness but where the led is located. The reason being is that if the led shines right through the legend, it may make the legend difficult to read. I haven't had the time to look at it in detail but it seems to be the case with highest brightness level with Ducky Shine. What would be nice are pic comparisons. If anyone has pics of a KBT Pure backlit through key caps with legends, I can post pics of my Shine with ccng and can compare.

The brightness is determined by quite a few factors. One, being the LED's rated Lumen rating. Two, the resistors on the board (if any). Three, the light dispersion angle as per the LED specifications sheet.

I can confirm it's on the bottom. I bought my Pure from P.S. during his welcome sale for around $110.

I did not.  But to answer, I got mine through patrick here on the forums.  If he had a black race, I'd be getting that from him, too.
