Where can I buy Cherry MX switches in small amounts?
« on: Fri, 17 August 2012, 02:08:02 »
So I have a FILCO w Cherry Blues that I need to replace 3 switches that got faulty after a tiny spill. Where can I buy switches in small amounts? I'm from Argentina so it has to have international shipping.

If anyone wants to sell any spare Cherry Blue switches, I don't mind buying them, so just PM me. Shipping to Argentina is around 8-10 dollars through USPS.

http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/index.php/products/keyboard-parts-1.html

Thanks. The answer has been under my nose this entire time.

EDIT: Damn, they don't ship to Argentina. I guess I'll have to wait until I travel to USA to get some switches. If anyone has any spare ones and is willing to ship them to Argentina, just PM me.

looks like mouser.com
ships to argentina, and is half the price of wasd, unfortunately i don't have the links to the switches cuz of the forum change, you'll have to dig for the links.

oops nevermind, it was easier to just search for em

you can pretty much figure out which are blues/blacks/browns.

Send them an email, they are very helpful and accommodating so they might just do it for you.

According to Cherry, MX1A-E1NN are Plate mount blues, like what your filco uses.
http://www.cherrycorp.com/english/switches/key/mx.htm

$1.01 for each at mouser, but you can get MX1A-E1NW (PCB mount blues) for $.83 each, and just pull/cut/break the extra plastic PCB-mounting pins off.

You might have to de-solder all the switches to replace them, though. (To separate the board from the plate)

The problem with Mouser is they use Fedex for international orders, which is super expensive. If you use Fedex, Shipping to Argentina is 25 dollars when it could be only 8 using USPS. I'm gonna mail WASDKeyboards. Maybe they can make an exception and ship to Argentina via USPS.
