Ringbow - a Kickstarter Project.
« on: Thu, 30 August 2012, 07:25:35 »
Hi everyone,

i recently discovered the Ringbow on Kickstarter,
which is basically a ring with a 9-axis D-Pad on it.

I thought this would be a cool replacement for a Trackpoint, which isn't available (or only very scarce) on Mechanicals.

Just wanted to get some input from some fellow (and probably more experienced) GH members.

Regards,
   Thion

If it's lightweight and the inputs feel good enough (Nintendo-like d-pad), I think it'd be worth picking up for an HTPC.

However, I'm not really seeing how this will make mobile gaming any better. It just makes me wish they could do an analog version with sticks from the 3DS or Vita.

First impression: extremely goofy...

but I think this is something I would really have to try out before I could make any really judgement on how realistically useful it is.

Why use your fingers when you can use your fingers AND a fancy ring with a dpad!

seems like it would be really cool if you wore it on your non-dominant index finger and controlled it with your thumb. otherwise (and maybe still) pretty cumbersome. neat idea though! a second ring with independent buttons could give you a bluetooth gamepad with almost no footprint.

Reminds me of the Genius Ring Mouse:

Still nice concept, I would never use it for regular PC use or gaming, however looks nice for a media center or an ultra compact notebook.

If it had analog, I could see it being more granular than wasd. I don't see it being used for anything in the video besides a presentation remote.
