Cheap KBT Race with pink caps, white led
« on: Thu, 06 September 2012, 14:03:31 »
So was looking on mechanicalkeyboards and noticed a pink race $30 off. Guess it was what was supposed to be the limited edition pink board. Although it seems to be the same as the white limited edition, with white caps. The caps have some minor imperfections it says, but the price and colour is very nice.

Oh also, if anyone wants to buy this for the board, and not the caps. I would gladly take them off your hands. I would love those on my white race, but can't be bothered buying a whole other board for it.

One thing you should know about the White Race case is that the color comes off by the scratch of your nail, like a lottery ticket. :/

So tempted to buy one of these for my daughter but I'm not sure a 6-year-old needs a mechanical keyboard. Please talk me out of it.

I would have bought one, but since they don't do International shipping. Blergh.
Edit: They do international shipping.. Hmm. Seems the person who posted before saying they didn't was wrong.
OMFG. $50 for standard International shipping.

This is par for the course for Australia. If it's under 4 lbs, then it becomes a lot cheaper with first class mail international, sometimes even to the point that getting it mail forwarded to you is cheaper.

That sounds cheap - it's usually $60 to $70 grrrrr......
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

My 6yo wants a pink keyboard too, but the only ones I can find are mechanical.  Not sure it would last long with her - she tends to spread her food around a bit.  Rather expensive for a toy.

Mine has her own computer and plays real games on it, so it wouldn't be entirely a waste. :)

Thank you, but seen that one, it is all-white keyboard with pink function keys.

There is one on DealsDirect, but $50 + $10 shipping and out of stock anyway.

Something like this (yes I know that is a joke) would be ideal with proper key legends.

Yeah, Logitech used to make a flat profile keyboard in pink, but seems it's all sold out and no longer made.
