WTT click clacks for cheap tablet (iPad etc)
« on: Thu, 04 October 2012, 12:52:03 »
My mom is looking for a cheap, second hand tablet, just something that can browse the internet, send emails (using Wi-Fi, 3G is not necessary) and maybe take pictures. I was just wondering if anybody had something like this that they don't use anymore and would maybe want to trade it for some click clacks or something. I've got green and pink MX ones and a pink topre one.

Could be an old generation iPad or something completely different, just let me know what you have and maybe give me a brief explanation about it. I'm not too knowledgeable on tablets.

Could also trade something like a keyboard for it. I've got a PCB mounted Cherry G80-3000 series fullsize keyboard with MX reds for example.

Pictures? I can possibly take those CCs off your hands, then order a Kindle Fire and have it sent to you, depending.

Added pictures. (there's a second pink one that's not pictured)

@esoomenona
I just read through some of the reviews for the Kindle Fire and I'm a little dubious about it because of some of the hardware and software/OS problems and limitations that people are mentioning. I'd prefer something more generic rather than targeted specifically at Amazon. I could just sell the click clack and use the money towards some other tablet though I suppose.

Have you looked at the Nexus 7? If you're looking to sell, let me know how much you'd want.

I have a 32gb Hp Touchpad in good condition, fwiw. It might only be worth one CC though.

I also have a Nexus 7, and really like it. Not offering to trade it, just giving it a recommendation.

Too bad I already have those two.  I have a new 32GB iPad 1st gen that I could trade with you.

How much you want for that iPad so that I can trade with him?

Is it this one? http://reviews.cnet.com/tablets/hp-touchpad-32gb/4505-3126_7-34843897.html
Seems like it could be fine for the simple things my mom would use it for. I see that it's been discontinued though and went through a $99 firesale. Does that affect it's ability to do common tasks in any way?

Going to hold out for trades for a little bit, it hasn't even been a few hours yet.

The TouchPad went on fire sale for many reasons. I don't think any of them were because it wasn't a capable piece of equipment or for lack of a capable OS. A lot of people are diehard WebOS fans, and that tablet has a large following. It is discontinued though, so there won't be any form of support, apart from the community. The 32GB was more expensive than $99. It was $150, I believe. And they were hard to catch. I tried.

Also, Android has been put together to run on it, if that's something you might be interested in.

I'm sure you'll get something or someone will just buy a second hand iPad to get them. Both super nice caps :)!

esoomenona said pretty much everything that needs to be said about the touchpad. FWIW, I could include the official case, and the touchstone charging dock (which is actually one of the neatest pieces of tech I've seen in the last few years)
