So I got my sample kit in the mail yesterday. The blacks take too long to bottom out, the blues are too loud. The browns feel really nice and I can imagine they would be great for general use but the reds feel like a dream in regards to gaming. So smooth and lovely. I can see what a big problem they could make typing though.

How do you guys find reds for typing or browns for gaming?

Recently built a keyboard with 62g reds for gaming because I felt like they were a tad light. im digging the 62g reds lately for gaming but thats about it

Any board can game good as long as your fingers can get used to it.

If you like bottoming out getting red should be a decent choice for you.

I am a fan of tactile switches for typing, but reds with o-rings are actually decent to type on. Not great, but doable for me.

Buy a cheap used board, play with it for a few weeks, sell it? Or if you have a poker or pure, swap in a few red switches to try them out.

This will be my first mechanical board with is why I want to make sure it will suite needs as a gamer and a general internet browser. I don't really ever type long articles out so typing isn't a huge deal to me. I'm looking at the Choc Mini 87 but I may go with a used board just to save on price.

BTW, there's not such thing as "gaming" switch or hardware. That's just a marketing term to appeal to gamers. Back then when I use to play sc2, I can switch between mx reds or blues just fine, and some people swear against mx blues for gaming.

I had reds for a while and loved them. Then I began playing SC2 and actually hated them for that purpose. I switched to browns and they feel a lot better. I make fewer typos with the browns also. With reds, I found that I was far more prone to press the keys adjacent to the ones I was aiming for.

I actually started with browns and then later on switch to reds. First impression was that brown is definitely better for typing and red is definitely better for gaming.

I have my repeat rate set to really high and repeat delay to really short, so at first with reds I keep getting double key because I left my finger on the key just a tad bit too long. But after a while I finally got used to it then red feels more effortless to type on because you can just glide through all the keys smoothly and quickly, but it probably took like 1-2 months until I get to that point.

So if you spend time on it I think red will definitely grow on you. Brown is one of those switch that you can get used to in 1 day.

Well I received my poker with reds yesterday and I'm LOVING it
I am used to typing on browns but I also type a lot on my laptop that's probably why I like light switches with no tactile bump
Typing speed feels faster but I didn't do any wpm test

What I don't like on my poker though is that it is cheap
no plate makes bottom out a little weak and the case is not levelled which is the major pb, ABS also sucks...good news is I have all I need coming in the mail to pimp it and make it dope

I love reds — mostly for typing (I play games only rarely). I had issues like bottoming out a lot, or doubletapping at some point, but I've adjusted the way I type, and now reds are just great. Maybe I'll try to lube them, because they could be a bit smoother though.

I fell I slip too much when I'm typing on reds. It might be my man hands but they are far too easy to press and has no feedback.

using red, i type and game. no issues.

games like cs 1.6 , LoL , SC2 and QL all good.

I make more mistakes on my reds, but that can be attributed to user error, and I personally prefer the browns for all purpose use.
