Error 1935 with Cherry Tools on Windows 7?
« on: Tue, 15 November 2011, 15:30:44 »
I've recently got my first mechanical keyboard and it was cherry G80-8200LPBUS-2
Then, i downloaded Cherry Tools v5.8 and tried installing it when it gave:

Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT, type="win32", version='8.0.50727.4053", publickKey Token="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b", processorArchitecture="amd64". Please refer to Help and Support for more information.

I would really appreciate it if there is any fellow OEM cherry keyboard users out there with the POS (Point Of Sale, not Piece Of ****) programmable keyboard who experienced such problem.
FYI, i'm running on windows 7 x64 ultimate.
Again, thank you.

do they suport 64 bits? In windows you can normally configure each application to run in 32 bits

according to the official cherry software download page, the program supports it
through my research, it seems like there is issue with the microsoft .net framework or c+++, which is painful...
on that note, i didn't mind typing down the entire error message because not only does it make it more specific, i seriously LOVE typing on this cherry brown right now...!
this was my first cherry keyboard to every type on (first mechanical keyboard i typed on was buckling spring on ibm model m) and it properly demonstrates the name

Make sure you have the vc++ 2005 runtime packages installed both 32 and 64 bit.

Are you running the Cherrytools installer as admin?

Yes of course, i'm the only admin user of the computer.
Besides, the cherry tools installer is .msi package file, not an .exe file.
Therefore the only way to run it is with admin privilege which i have.
I just decided to do a format of the computer since it was about that time of the year. I'll post up to see how that goes.

This is not exactly true. There are msi installers which don't require admin rights to run. Moreover, even if you're the only user of the computer, programs in Vista/7 don't run with admin privileges by default. Try right-click on the msi and select "run as admin".

i'm not sure if you know this but you cannot right-click on the msi and select run as admin.
i would have tried that already by now.
thanks for the suggestion though.
is there anyone who experienced this on windows 7 x64 at all?

It seems to be a general vc++ problem as googling vc80 error 1935 turns up a lot of hits. The fix seems to be running    fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\    in an elevated cmd prompt, rebooting and reinstalling vc++ runtime package, then the dependent software installer.

Its a very irritating error, i also faced this error many times but i fixed it.
Following are the various ways you can implement to fix error 1935

    1. Reinstall Microsoft .NET Framework
    2. Perform a Full Virus Scan
    3. Full Scan your Registry
    4. Reregister Windows Installer
    5. Check System Files for Corruption
    6. Clean the System Junk

The Error 1935 in Windows 7 may still occur if your registry is not properly configured.

My version of cherry tools works fine in win7 enterprise 64 on my mac pro
Mine is  designer version 5.8.0.5

Welcome to GH!

Depending on your version of W7, you should just be able to run it in XP mode.

Hi guys,
I'm facing the exact same error as Nurburgring did. Win7 64 Ultimate here, freshly installed.
A confirmed solution would be amazing... :)
