Razer Ouroboros (Wireless Modular Mouse)
« on: Thu, 10 January 2013, 16:47:13 »
Anybody have any thoughts on this? I was about to pick it up from the local Best Buy, but it was gone when I actually wanted to buy it. Besides this and the RAT9, any other wireless modular mouse options out there? I'd like to keep wires to a minimum since my desk isn't against a wall. Already did the best I can on cable management. And does it REALLY matter for a mouse if its wireless or wired for response times and accurate tracking?

Stock pictures of the mouse from the website:

It looks nice and all but I am not getting anything else from Razer and Synapses 2.0.

Really, All these custom mouses have way more glam and glitter than needed. I used a lot of mouses including a few of Razer's but my favorite would have to be Microsoft Click Wheel or Intellimouse 3.0.

Steelseries makes some nice mouses too.

I just randomly came across this when I was browsing the tiny section they have for computer parts. Didn't know they made any wireless ones until I saw this one.

Haven't used a Razer mouse before, but I've heard that Synapses 2 really ruins it for a lot of people. Making a account just to save some mouse profiles is a bit ridiculous.

I still also have yet to try a steelseries mouse, although I've heard great things about them.

I have the Sensei. Great mouse. If I were to get another mouse from them I would get the Kinzu or Kana. Sensei is very nice and light but for the price I would rather get a Kinzu.

Note that the old Razer software wasn't that great either. You would have to restart your computer when you changed profiles or messed with settings. At least thats what happened for me.

The Kinzu has a horrible sensor, just so you're aware.

I find that the old Razer drivers are better than most other. They felt a bit clunky initially, but I never had to restart to change settings, only to install/uninstall, but plenty of hardware drivers make you do that. I've found the Razer driver interface to be fairly neat, at least compared to Logitech drivers.

As for the Ouroboros, it's physically interesting, not sure about the sensor but Razer seems to have started using decent ones again, but the wireless + Synapse 2.0 is really putting me off. If it was either wired or didn't use Synapse I'd probably consider getting one, but not when you need to deal with both.

The only Razer mouse I'd buy ever again is the 2013 DA.

Other than that, it's SS Sensei from here on out.

I prefer my G500, but that's for a different thread.

Sensor doesn't matter to me much. I use the old Microsoft mouses. They are weak sensors. I don't do much FPS and lag gets me more often than the sensor not being accurate.

But I probably won't get a Kinzu anytime soon.

Yeah, I'm using the G500 right now as well. But since I already have my good ole reliable Logitech, I wanted to experiment with the other brands and options that I have. I'm using my second G500 and been using them for a year or two now. And I probably sound vain but the some of the steelseries are really... plain. I usually try to shy away from ambidextrous styling like the Sensei or Microsoft since it is plain. I guess it wouldn't hurt to try a plain and simple design proven to be acceptable by many. Modular ones are usually ambidextrous but they look much better.
